From Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to Atocha Train Station, there are 4 ways to get there: bus, taxi, metro, and train. The most practical choice is to take a €37 EUR taxi from Madrid airport. Taking the train is a more affordable choice. The journey lasts about 33 minutes, and tickets cost €3.40. The metro is an additional choice. The trip takes 40 minutes and costs 5 euros each way. The bus is the last remaining mode of transportation. This costs €5 per ticket and requires more time than the other choices.
The easiest way to get from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Atocha Train Station is by far to take a taxi. Outside each of the airport's four terminals are taxi stands. Madrid's taxis have a white exterior and a red diagonal stripe. To prevent misunderstandings or overcharging, we advise scheduling your airport taxi in advance for Madrid.
You need to spend €37 (day and night) with LimoFahr to get from the airport to Atocha Station. It takes roughly 20 minutes, depending on traffic. However, to ensure that you receive a high-quality service while saving time and money, it is always preferable to pre-book your Madrid airport transfer.

Taxis are available around-the-clock, so you can get one whenever you land at the airport. A taxi is your best bet if you are in a hurry because they are also the fastest choice.
The metro may be your best mode of transportation if you only have one piece of luggage. A direct subway line runs from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Nuevos Ministerios station, from where you can take the C-2 or C-7 lines to Atocha Station. However, it might be an inconvenience as the Metro, unfortunately, stops running at 1:30.
Ticket prices for one-way travel range from 8 to 13 euros. Every subway station, including those at the airport and in the city, has ticket machines.
Inside the Madrid-Barajas airport, there are two stations for the Metro, located at Terminals 2 and 4. Therefore, if you arrive at Terminals 1 or 3, you can take the free bus to Terminals 2 or 4 by leaving from one of those locations.
The subway is very convenient because it is situated inside the airport. Madrid-Barajas Airport is serviced by line 8, which is the principal line. Along with connecting you to the Atocha Station, Metro Line 8 also connects to Metro Lines 6, 10, 9, 4, C-2, and C-7.
Line C-1 of the Spanish national railway system runs routes to and from the airport in Madrid. The train stops at Chamartn, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha Central Railway Station, Méndez Álvaro Station, and Príncipe Pío Station, a total of five locations. If you land at terminals 1, 2, or 3, it is less convenient to get to the station from the airport.
How much is the fare from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Atocha Station by Train?
One-way tickets for the local train (RENFE) cost 3.40€ and can be purchased from T4.
If you arrive at terminals 1, 2, or 3, you must take the internal bus to floor -1 of terminal 4 because the train arrives there.
If you are arriving at Terminals 1 or 2, you will need to take an airport shuttle to Terminal 4, from which you can take the train to Atocha Station without stopping.
To get to Atocha Station from Madrid-Barajas Airport, take an express bus that runs nonstop. The yellow bus stops at the Barajas Airport's T4, T2, and T1 terminals, respectively.
The bus stops at O'Donnell, Plaza de Cibeles, and Atocha railway stations during the day; at night, it stops at O'Donnell and Plaza de Cibeles only.
On the bus, tickets can be purchased for 5€ each. Cash only is accepted on buses.
Outside terminals 1, 2, and 4, there is an express bus stop. A free airport shuttle connects all terminals for those arriving at terminal T3. You can walk to terminal T2 or take this shuttle.
The express bus runs continuously, but if you arrive at Terminal 3, you will need to use the internal shuttle to get to another terminal. You might not be able to get to Atocha Station if you arrive at night because the bus only stops twice during the day and three times during the night in the city. Atocha, Plaza de Cibeles, O'Donnell, and Plaza de Cibeles railway stations are all stopped at various times throughout the day.

Hourly bookings have a few rules that passengers should be aware of. When booking a trip on an hourly basis, it typically starts at the time you meet the driver, within the included waiting time. The trip ends in the area of the city where you indicated your pickup point.
For Economy+ or Business booking class, there is an included waiting time of 15 minutes for pickups outside of the airport, and 45 minutes for Economy+ airport pickups, 60 minutes for Business airport pickups. For First Class, the included waiting time is 30 minutes for pickups outside of the airport and 90 minutes for airport pickups. It's worth noting that hourly bookings are only for a certain amount of time and include specified pickup location, toll, and parking fees are not included in the price.

For limousine bookings, the driver will typically be holding a pickup sign with your name and surname on it. You can also request specific text to appear on the sign when making your booking. Simply look for the sign upon arrival at the airport.
